Library Cards: Any Lewiston City resident is eligible to receive a library card. Applicants for library cards must present identification and proof of residence. Temporary cards may be issued for those visiting or in temporary locations. Corporate cards are also available upon request. Please notify the library immediately if your card is lost or stolen or your name or address changes. A $1.00 fee will be charged for replacement cards. No fee is charged to replace a card that is worn out due to extended use.
Checking Out Materials: Please present your own library card to check out material. You are responsible for all materials checked out on your card.
Renewals: You may renew materials by bringing your library card or items to the library or by phone. To request a renewal by phone, call 743-6519; please have your library card ready. You may also renew materials that are not overdue online at www.cityoflewiston.org/library and choose My Account. To extend your renewal date on line you need to do it prior to the due date; the program does not accept renewals on the day items are due.
Returns: Materials may be returned at any VALNet Library (see www.valnet.org) for a list of participating libraries.
Holds: If the material you need is already checked out or at another VALNet location, the staff will be happy to place a hold for you. You may also place your own holds through the online catalog www.valnet.org - My Account. You will be notified when the material is available. If you would like us to notify you by email, please be sure that we have your correct email address.
Interlibrary Loans: If the Lewiston City Library or VALNet does not own a copy of material you need, we may be able to borrow it from another library for you. Ask any librarian for further information.
VALNet is a consortium of libraries who have agreed to share their resources and online catalog. Materials may be requested and returned from any participating library. The Lewiston Library is also a participant in the Washington Idaho Network (WIN) of libraries and a participating member of the worldwide OCLC group of libraries.
