Homebound

HomeboundThe library offers homebound service to residents who are temporarily or permanently confined to their homes. Library staff selects material based upon individual readers` interests and requests and a volunteer delivers their items. For more information call the Lewiston Library, 743-6519.

Q: How do I enroll in the program?
A: Call the library (743-6519) and we will mail you an application. Return the application by mail (or have it brought in) and we will contact you to get you started in the program. You can also print the application from home and mail it in.

Q: Is there any charge associated with homebound service?
A: No. Our service is free. Also, since pickup of materials is scheduled, you will not accrue overdue charges. You are only responsible for lost or damaged library materials you borrow.

Q: What kinds of materials can I get?
A: Books, large print books, music compact discs, audio books on cassette or CD’s, magazines; anything available for check out can be delivered to you. To request materials from the library, simply call 743-6519
.

Q: How long may I keep materials?
A: The lending period for all items through the homebound program is 4 weeks. You may renew your materials as long as no other patrons are waiting for them. If you receive an overdue notice, please call the library to renew the items or have a volunteer come pick them up to be returned to the library.

Q: How do I return materials?
A: When you’re finished with the materials, simply call the library and we will arrange for them to be picked up. It is important if you are expecting books or have called for books to be returned to the library that you keep the scheduled time appointment for the pickup service. This prevents our volunteers from making unnecessary trips.
